Manchester United target Marco Verratti is set to snub the Premier League champions elect in favour of extending his stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes, with both Manchester United and Serie A side Juventus among Verratti’s suitors.
But the Italian – often referred to as the ‘next Andrea Pirlo’ – insists he is happy in France and has no desire to seek pastures new.
‘Juve or another club?. No. I’m staying at PSG. I have already decided,’ he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Sir Alex Ferguson has long been tracking the 20-year-old, who signed for PSG last summer, but the United boss has been joined in the hunt by other top European sides including Juve, as Verratti has impressed in his debut season in Ligue 1.
United are keen to bolster their midfield in the summer, with it looking increasingly likely veteran Paul Scholes will be forced to call time on his Old Trafford career at the end of the season, but may now have to continue their search elsewhere.
